  ::JEFF CARROLL BIOGRAPHY::

Jeff’s formative years were fun-filled with music and experimentation with whatever audio equipment he could get his hands on. After graduating college and playing in a number of regional bands, Jeff began working in the audio mastering department of American Media International, a large independent media manufacturing plant where signal integrity and purity were highly emphasized. There, several audiophile engineers and electronics enthusiasts mentored Jeff. After five years of long hours and commitment to the craft, Jeff was promoted to department head, overseeing the production of five mastering suites.

Over the next five years, he oversaw the creation of literally thousands of production masters. This situation afforded him an unsurpassed depth of understanding of every type of music imaginable.

Jeff then began audio restoration on The Southern Folklife Collection, a major folk, blues, rock and country music collection at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There he worked with many older and obsolete audio formats, many containing some of the most rare and important recordings in the history of American music.

Opening Bluefield Mastering in 2001, Jeff has mastered for some of the top artists, producers and engineers in music today. Jeff is a member of AES and NARAS.

An interview about Jeff Carroll & Bluefield Mastering was recently featured in Mix Magazine's Generation Mix. Read the article.
