[THE VISION OF A DYING WORLD]
The sound of San Diego's Vision of a Dying World falls somewhere between
NRBQ and Wilco, but with a bit of California surf music for unique
coloring. On their latest, ...and the Grammar
Lamb, it's difficult
to imagine how this record could be any better, as the unity of songs,
musicianship and production make for one fantastic, highly-enjoyable
listening trip. Recorded by Jalipaz.
[DAY ACTION BAND]
Wives & Babies, the new release from Day Action Band, has the riveting
lyrics and honest production we've come to expect from this talented
brother duo. Written, performed and produced by the band.
[CLAIRE JENKINS AVEC BAND]
Crow's Nest /Nid De Pie. Claire Jenkins has a knack for writing poetic
lyrics and delivering a magical vocal. And the accompaniments always
frame her vocals in just the right way. Recorded live in the studio
by king of the buckwheat pancakes, Don Kerr.
[I WAS TOTALLY DESTROYING IT]
The debut from Chapel Hill's newest hard-hitting, melodic power popsters,
I Was Totally Destroying It, takes hold of the fun & energy of
rock's past and drives it forward, full speed into the present with
a bold, refreshing new sound. Solid production (Warrior Sound) & gripping
songs throughout.
[DANO]
One Drop Pop, a phenomenal steel drum album by master pan-man & party-maker,
Dano Lancelot, takes listeners through Caribbean-flavored instrumental
versions of modern rock hits such as Coldplay's Clocks and Weezer's Island
In the Sun, as well as other classic rock, pop & reggae numbers.

A long-time member of the Backstabbers Country Stringband, Allen steps
into the spotlight along with the playful, cartoonish vocals of the talented
Kristine Schmitt and guest appearances by numerous great players. Recorded
by Don Kerr.
[HAMMER NO MORE THE FINGERS]
A three-piece rock outfit with a full-sound, real dynamics, a sense of

latest release, a self-titled EP, makes it all sound oh so effortless
(but we know that's the trick). Recorded by Jay Murphy.
[DOWN BY AVALON]
Catchy pop for fans of 60s thru 80s-era bands, especially REM & XTC.
This Chapel Hill band has been lurking around the scene for a while and
has finally released their self-titled, full-length debut on Urban Myth.

great musical contributions by the Capitol City Five, PCB Trio, Vaughan
Penn, Bill Leslie, the Rare Grooves, Winterbourne, Stephen Ineson,
Martin & Johnson, David Dyer & the Crooked Smile Band, Rob
Sharer, the Feargall Family, Anthony Neff, the Magic Babies, and Nixon,

Pan Can Jam! is Tracy's release for 2007. There is nothing else like
this in the steel drum world. Rock & funk originals are banged
out on steel drums, yet the recording has the meatiness and warmth
of a rock recording.
[JON SHAIN]
Army Jacket Winter is thirteen Shain originals and a wonderful Tom Petty
cover, all executed in his own heartfelt blend of blues, rock & folk.
Produced by Shain, Jackson Hall & Scottsburg Jonze. Mixed by Tom
Dube. Of course it has the incredible FJ Ventre on upright bass, John
Currie on dobro and steel, and Bill Newton on harmonica. Guest appearances
by Taz Halloween, Zeke Hutchins, Mark Simonsen, Stephen Franckevich & more.
[STRYPER]
The Roxx Regime Demos are Stryper's 1983 demos before they inked a deal
with Enigma & changed their name. The best copy located was a cassette,
and Jeff used it as a source to master this limited release! |
